What is Negomoot?
The Negotiation Moot Association is an award winning unique organization with noble partners. Choosing us will benefit any organization, should it operate in the public or the private sector. We provide our participants a unique environment, where they can significantly enhance their negotiation skills. Our simulation model, developed for more than 10 years, may be tailored to any specific situation, let it be a scenario in global politics or a daily business event. Our simulations have been played at multiple EU and non-EU countries and even in Brussels, as a training course for real life diplomats.
We organize negotiation simulation competitions for young diplomats, university students, open-minded entrepreneurs, whose performance and acquired knowledge can be measured objectively during the game. The original idea came from Hungarian professionals working at EU institutions in Brussels. They had two objectives in their minds: firstly, to introduce the participants to the ways and means of Brussels decision-making processes; and secondly, to establish practice oriented workshops in the Hungarian higher education system. The competition nurtures valuable skills – such as promoting self-interest, negotiation skills, consensus building and teamwork – that people will probably need more during their lives and careers than lexical knowledge provided by traditional university courses and trainings.
In the past more than ten years, we successfully held 60 simulations with 3000 young Europeans participating in our national and international competitions in Hungary, Transylvania/Romania, Serbia, Armenia, London, Brussels & Strasbourg. Our most talented players have been awarded internships by MEPs at the European Parliament, at prestigious Hungarian ministries and at several international institutions.
We are proud of our broad range of references. Students from Corvinus University of Budapest can decide to participate at our competitions as an elective course that has been a part of their curriculum since 2011. One of the Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament supported our training day in 2014. As part of the “EP Voks” EU-campaign, our event successfully reached out to the most people in this EU-funded programme, which aimed at promoting participation in European elections in the Central Hungary Region. We were requested to organize seven role-play games for almost 300 young Europeans in two days during the European Youth Event in Strasbourg.
As recognition of our enduring success, we were awarded the Europe-prize by Budapest City Council.
A typical Negotiation Moot event consists of a session of trainings and the simulation competition itself. The aim of the preparational meetings are to make the participants familiar with the case they simulate, to brief them on the rules and optionally to give them additional preparational trainings, carried out by our professional partners. During the simulation competition, both teamworking and negotiation skills are tested as participants are divided into groups for the groundwork of the case, which they debate on later. Following the competition, our experienced team provides detailed feedback on the performance of the individuals, with optional follow-up coaching sessions for the participants.
